Academics Matter to JMS Lady Titans

The very purpose of school based athletic programs is to provide an education in values. Personal values such as discipline, dedication, confidence, work ethic, and character as well as social values like citizenship, respect and sportsmanship are among the many life skills learned from participation in interscholastic athletics.

But this story is not about what happens on the court; it’s about everything that happens behind the scenes, before and after practice.

Jacksonville Middle School teachers, coaches, administrators and staff take the “student” part of student athletes very seriously. What happens on a day-to-day basis behind the scenes has turned into a success story for the JMS Lady Titans.

One hundred percent of the 7th grade team made the A/B Honor Roll. All but three 8th graders on the team made all A’s and B’s—the others had only one C. Four of the team members made straight A’s.

Success in the classroom is happening at JMS. We are all proud of JMS educators and their student athletes!
