Young Titans are Reading for Success

This spring, JNPSD partnered with Reading is Fundamental to bring the program, Read for Success, to all 2nd and 3rd grade students. These classrooms participated in read alouds and STEAM-related activities that have promoted science, technology, engineering, arts and math. In addition, all JNPSD 2nd and 3rd graders are leaving for summer break with eight books to add to their home classroom library. JNPSD students and families are encouraged to not only stay safe this summer, but also spend time reading together!

Moving Up to Middle School?

A mix of emotions—excitement, apprehension, curiosity and concern, often accompany the transition from elementary school to middle school. That’s why Jacksonville Middle School is hosting a meet and greet for rising sixth graders and their parents.

If your child will be in the sixth grade for the 2017-18 school year, please join us at the middle school located at 718 Harris Road Thursday, May 25, 5pm to meet the staff and receive helpful information.

We want to assist students and families by providing the groundwork for a successful middle school experience.

Rounding Up Little Titans for Kindergarten

Elementary schools in the Jacksonville North Pulaski School District are prepping for the 2017-18 Kindergarten Roundup. This is a pre-registration opportunity for students who will be 5 years old on or before August 1 and entering kindergarten. The Roundup is scheduled for Friday, April 28, 1-2pm at all elementary schools.

Parents must register their children at the school within their attendance zone. To locate your attendance zone click here

To register a student, parents or guardians need to present proper identification, which includes a birth certificate or a registrar statement, baptismal certificate, passport, affidavit or military identification, along with immunization records and social security card.

Proof of residence is also necessary, which requires a current utility bill (gas, water or electric), a Little Rock Air Force Base housing verification form, home purchase closing papers or lease agreement.

JMS Students Published

Last fall, as part of the Writers in the Schools program, University of Arkansas graduate students worked with Jacksonville Middle School students and teachers. The goal was to help students gain confidence with written and verbal communication skills and to explore new avenues of self-expression and awareness.

Nine 8th graders have been published in the WITS Anthology for their poems. To view their work click here.
