Demolition began Monday, August 15, at the former Jacksonville Middle School site to make way for the new Jacksonville High School.
A lot has changed since those buildings were constructed back in the 1950s especially in the delivery of education. However, in Jacksonville one thing hasn’t changed—the desire to provide a learning environment that will expand education beyond traditional boundaries.
The new high school is being designed by WER Architects/Planners with Baldwin Shell serving as construction manager.
Piece by piece, the old buildings are coming down and will no longer be an eyesore to the community. Everyone is excited and looking forward to the new high school complex.
