Parents & Community
Welcome! You are a very influential factor in the student-teacher-parent-community equation. As parents, you are your child’s first and most important teacher. As community members, your interest and support reinforces the belief that an education—for each child—is critical to the future of our community, our state and our country.
Family and community involvement fosters partnerships among schools. These partnerships result in sharing and maximizing resources that help children and youth develop healthy behaviors.
Research shows that students whose parents are involved in their education are more likely to:
- Adapt well to school and attend school more regularly
- Complete homework more consistently
- Earn higher grades and test scores
- Graduate and go on to college
- Have better social skills and show improved behavior
- Have higher self-esteem
Additionally, linking community activities to the classroom
- Improves school-related behaviors
- Positively impacts academic achievement
- Reduces school suspension rates
Jacksonville Education Foundation
The Jacksonville Education Foundation (JEF) was founded in 1999 by local public education supporters like you—parents, alumni, business leaders, school district retirees and members of the community who understood the value of a strong public school system.
The mission of the Foundation is to promote the highest quality of education in the Jacksonville public schools by supporting the teaching process, providing additional educational resources and engaging a broad base of community support. This valuable partnership with the Jacksonville North Pulaski School District and the Jacksonville Lighthouse Charter School has allowed the public schools to expand educational programs that fall outside the schools’ normal operating budget and promote teacher excellence through advanced study.
The work of JEF is made possible through generous community support. For more information contact Mrs. Pat Bond at 501.772.2341.
