The Pulaski County Alumni Chapter of UAPB/AM&N is offering five (5) scholarships of $1,000 each to deserving students from Pulaski, Saline, and Faulkner Counties who plan to attend the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. The scholarships will be awarded based on a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above, a composite score of 17 or higher on the ACT, involvement in school and community activities, and leadership skills. These scholarships will cover expenses for one academic year.
1) The applicant must be a graduating senior from Pulaski, Saline, or Faulkner County High Schools.
2) To qualify for consideration, the applicant must possess a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of no less than 2.75, based on a 4.0 scale, as well as a minimum composite score of 17 on the American College Testing (ACT) exam. Please note that only those applicants who meet these two requirements will be considered for admission.
3) The applicant must declare their intent to enroll at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff during the 2024-2025 school year. Applicants must include a copy of the institution’s acceptance letter OR a copy of the student’s UAPB fall semester schedule.
4) The applicant must fill out the scholarship application form completely and accurately. Please ensure that all sections of the form are completed before submitting it.
5) The applicant must submit a sealed official transcript from their high school, showing the cumulative GPA and most up-to-date ACT scores.
6) To apply for this opportunity, the applicant needs to provide two letters of recommendation. One letter should be from a teacher or counselor, and the other one should be from a community service leader. Both letters should be sealed and signed and must address the student’s character, academic achievements, and any public service that the applicant has participated in. The letters should be written on official letterhead.
7) The applicant must submit a photo that will be used in printed publications.
8) The recipient and their parent(s) or guardian(s) will be required to provide written consent for the chapter to share their names and photos with local newspapers and publications for the purposes of recognizing the award.
The award shall be disbursed to the UAPB/AM&N National Alumni Office. Upon receipt of proof of enrollment or an official letter from the admissions office bearing the college or university's seal, the chapter shall credit the recipient's student account with 50% of the total award. The second-semester award shall be contingent on the recipient achieving a grade point average of 2.75 or higher during the first semester. It is important to note that failure to adhere to all guidelines shall render the applicant ineligible to receive the award.
