act aspire

Dear Jacksonville High School Parent/Guardian:

Arkansas law requires all public school scholars to participate in a statewide educational assessment program per Ark. Code Ann. A.C.A §6-15-2907 (e).

The ACT Aspire end-of-year summative assessment will be used to assess all Arkansas public
school scholars in grades 3-10. Each scholar will participate in English, Reading, Writing, Math, and Science tests. Research shows that the earlier we measure progress toward meeting educational standards, the more we can strengthen scholars' chances to stay on target to be college and career ready upon graduating high school. While state tests are not the only tool used to determine your child's progress, consistent administration enables educators to see each scholar's growth over time.
The data from these tests inform teachers as they meet scholars' needs. These assessments ensure that all Arkansas public schools have an equal opportunity to demonstrate grade-level and subject area proficiency.

APRIL 19 – APRIL 21, 2022, we will administer the ACT Aspire's online test to ALL 9th and
10th-grade scholars enrolled at Jacksonville High School. Scholars must be on campus by 8:20 am each day to take this assessment. The first day of testing will consist of Math and Reading; the second day of testing will consist of English, Science; and the third day will consist of Writing. Arkansas will give the ACT Aspire for the sixth year in 2021-2022. Parents will receive score reports which will provide information regarding each student's progress in the fall preceding the test.

Parents may not opt their scholar(s) out of testing. Please encourage your scholar to do his/her best. Remind your scholar that the assessment is not a grade but will allow teachers to help him/her. Additionally, you can also help by ensuring your scholar gets a good night's sleep, eats a good breakfast on test day, and brings their fully charged school-issued Chromebook to school. The TESTING CLASSROOM with the highest percentage of points will be declared THE WINNER and that class will get a PIZZA PARTY! WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE THE WINNING CLASS? 1). Be present all three days of testing 2). Be on time all three days 3). Bring your Chromebook - FULLY CHARGED 4). Have a great attitude 5). Display great behavior during testing 6). Use your time wisely
