Earlier this week, Mr. Case’s 6th grade AVID classes practiced working collaboratively to solve a problem. They had to complete a puzzle but the only person that could touch the pieces was blindfolded. The rest of the group helped by telling the one blindfolded where to put the pieces. They had a blast. #wearejms

Mrs. Malone, 6th grade Social Studies teacher at JMS, submitted a project to DonorsChoose.org for ancient civilization games. The project was fulfilled by generous donors with the largest donation coming from Sonic with their Limeades for Learning program. The students are excited and ready to learn how to play the games to practice decision making, higher level strategic thinking, and problem solving skills.

Here are a few more "Anything But A Backpack" pictures.

Mrs. Gates' classes are reading the novel: “The Young Landlords” which is about some young adolescents in the community who want to make a difference so they take on the task of becoming landlords.
Her scholars have been working on designing apartments of their own. They are to name the apartments, determine a budget, how much it will cost to rent, what will be furnished, etc. Afterwards, scholars are to work with their groups to design a 3D floor plan of their apartments which include interior design as well.

It's Red Ribbon Week! See below for all the fun at JMS for scholars to show they will be drug free!
