Jacksonville North Pulaski School District Celebrates Milestone Achievement in Academic Progress
[Jacksonville, AR] — January 14, 2025] — The Jacksonville North Pulaski School District is
proud to announce a significant milestone in its journey toward academic excellence. The Arkansas Department of Education's Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has recognized the district for surpassing the performance thresholds set forth in Ark. Code Ann. § 6-15-2913.
As a result of this progress, JNPSD will no longer require Act 1082 check-ins with the District Support Unit. Additionally, the district has been officially released from the Directed Literacy Support level. These developments mark a pivotal moment in the district's ongoing efforts to provide scholars with the highest quality education and reflect a collaborative commitment to improving student outcomes.
“This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our scholars, educators, staff, and families,” said Dr. Jeremy Owoh, Superintendent. “We’ve worked tirelessly to foster an environment where every scholar can thrive, and this recognition highlights the tremendous strides we’ve made together as a community.” Per state guidelines, Act 1082 check-ins are required for districts where 50% or more of students score in the lowest performance level on the previous year's state summative reading assessment. Surpassing this threshold not only signals academic progress but also reinforces the district’s focus on enhancing literacy and learning outcomes.
While this milestone is a cause for celebration, Dr. Owoh emphasized that the journey toward sustained academic excellence is ongoing. “This achievement motivates us to keep pushing forward,” he said. “We remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring that every scholar reaches their full potential.” DESE has also expressed its continued support for JNPSD and encourages the district to build on this progress. The department remains available to provide resources, guidance, and collaborative opportunities as needed.
