The Junior League of North Little Rock offers a Volunteer Scholarship to support the volunteer and leadership potential of female Central Arkansas students. The Junior League awards scholarships in various amounts each year.
Candidates for these scholarships must be a Central Arkansas high school graduating senior. A grade point average of at least 3.0 must be maintained. Include a transcript or an official letter from the school indicating GPA. Any candidate must also demonstrate an outstanding volunteer performance in the Central Arkansas area.
Applications must be submitted no later than April 15, 2022. Each application must contain the following information:
1. Applicant information:
*Name
*Age and Social Security number
*Address and phone number
*Name, address and phone number of school
*Name, address and phone number of Parent or Guardian if applicable.
2. Essay describing how the applicant and the organization(s) for which the applicant volunteered benefited from the applicant’s volunteer work, future goals regarding voluntarism, and future educational/career plans.
3. Letter(s) of reference from at least one organization where the applicant demonstrated her commitment to voluntarism. The letter should be prepared on the organization’s letterhead. Letter of reference should include the following:
*Name, address, and phone number of the organization
*Name and phone number of the supervisor responsible for overseeing the applicant’s volunteer work
*Description of volunteer activities of the applicant
*How the organization benefited from the applicant’s volunteer work
*Duration of applicant’s work
*Average hours per month applicant volunteered during this period.
4. Letter of reference from the applicant’s school principal, assistant principal, guidance counselor, or teacher. Letter of reference should be written on school letterhead and include the following:
*Name, address and phone number of person writing reference
*Student’s school accomplishments, important achievements and honors
*Impact of applicant’s volunteer efforts.
The Junior League Scholarship Committee will review each application and make a recommendation to the JLNLR Board. Final decision is made by taking the highest cumulative score based on volunteer activities, demonstrated impact of volunteer efforts, continued commitment to voluntarism, and references.
By submitting a scholarship application, you affirm that the information provided in said application is true and complete to the best of your knowledge and that you consent to the verification of information via telephone interviews conducted with the applicant, the volunteer organization supervisor, and the school reference.
Scholarship recipients will be notified after May 1, 2022. The award will be made payable to the college or university to be attended by the recipient.
