Representatives from UALR's TRIO Talent Search Program visited the Titan Learning Academy recently to launch its program.
The program looks for scholars who may have barriers to furthering their education and offers goal setting, pathways and other strategies to help them achieve a post secondary education.
Representatives spoke with scholars regarding their interests, qualifications, and the differences between technical certificates, degrees, and types of training available to join the workforce.
Students were also given STEM lesson kits and made a robot that moved and worked.
STEM kits give students a glimpse into tasks a STEM career may offer. Students in the HUB applied for their first college as well.
During the school year, TRIO will work with scholars to understand what opportunities are available and how to tap into the resources to go to a post secondary training. They will visit colleges and technical schools across the state during this year. Titan Academy's staff are very excited to see what results come from this opportunity for our scholars.
